The inaugural issue of the Governor's Monthly Letter (GML) for Rotary Year 2026–27 marks the beginning of a new journey for Rotary International District 3060. This edition celebrates fresh leadership, renewed purpose, and a unified commitment to creating sustainable and measurable impact across the district.
The cover story introduces the Monthly Service Projects (MSP) Calendar, a strategic initiative that provides every Rotary club with a structured roadmap for service throughout the year. Aligned with Rotary's Seven Areas of Focus, the MSP framework encourages clubs to undertake purposeful, collaborative and community-centric projects that create measurable outcomes while strengthening Rotary's public image and expanding opportunities for CSR partnerships and Global Grants.
This issue also captures the spirit of new leadership with the installation of District Governor Rtn. Nilesh Shah, whose inspiring theme, "Team Believers", calls upon every Rotarian to believe in the power of collective action, purposeful leadership and service that creates lasting change. Guided by Rotary International President's message, "Create Lasting Impact", the district embarks on a year focused on strengthening membership, enhancing The Rotary Foundation, building impactful service projects and fostering innovation across clubs.
Recognising the importance of youth leadership, this edition celebrates the installation of District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Bhavya Shah, highlighting the vital role of Rotaract in shaping the next generation of leaders. The continued partnership between Rotary and Rotaract reinforces a shared vision of empowering young people through service, leadership, fellowship and innovation.
The GML also extends warm congratulations to Inner Wheel District 306 on the installation of District Chairman Sneha Bhagat and her leadership team. The enduring partnership between Rotary and Inner Wheel reflects a common commitment to compassion, fellowship, women's empowerment and community service, opening new avenues for collaboration in the year ahead.
"Together, these stories symbolize far more than ceremonial beginnings — they represent a shared commitment to lead with purpose, serve with compassion and inspire communities through meaningful action."
As Team Believers, District 3060 begins this Rotary year united in vision, confident in its purpose, and committed to transforming aspirations into action and action into lasting impact.
A year of new beginnings, stronger partnerships, inspired leadership, and service that truly Creates Lasting Impact.
One of the greatest strengths of Rotary lies in its ability to translate vision into action. This Rotary year, District 3060 has taken a significant step in strengthening that vision by introducing a structured Monthly Service Projects (MSP) Calendar that aligns every month with Rotary's Areas of Focus, ensuring purposeful and impactful service throughout the year.
Beginning with Maternal & Child Health in July and progressing through Membership, Literacy, Community Economic Development, The Rotary Foundation, Disease Prevention, Vocational Service, Peacebuilding, Water & Sanitation, Environment, Youth Service and Rotary Fellowships, the MSP framework provides every club with practical, scalable and community-centric project ideas.
More than just a calendar, the MSP initiative serves as a roadmap for clubs to create measurable and sustainable impact. Whether conducting maternal health awareness programmes, restoring school dropouts, developing Miyawaki forests, promoting renewable energy, organising career guidance sessions, supporting women's empowerment or strengthening environmental stewardship, every suggested project reflects Rotary's commitment to addressing real community needs while contributing to national development priorities.
The initiative also encourages collaboration among clubs, strengthens Rotary's public image and creates opportunities to develop CSR-ready projects that can be expanded through partnerships and Global Grants. By adopting common themes each month, clubs across District 3060 can collectively demonstrate the power of Rotary working together for a shared purpose.
"Let us move beyond isolated activities and build a year of consistent, meaningful and measurable service. Every project undertaken is another step towards Rotary International's vision to Create Lasting Impact."
Together, let us make every month count, every project meaningful and every act of service a lasting gift to our communities.
On 1 July 2026, Rotary clubs across the globe welcomed new leaders and began a new Rotary year under the leadership of Rotary International President Olayinka Hakeem Babalola. Clubs worldwide are aligning their goals with the Presidential theme "Create Lasting Impact", focusing on sustainable service, membership growth, leadership development, and stronger community partnerships.
As Rotary enters another year of meaningful service, the President encourages every Rotarian to embrace innovation, strengthen fellowship, empower local communities, and build projects that create sustainable change for generations to come.
"Create Lasting Impact" is more than a theme—it's a commitment to transform lives through meaningful service, collaboration, and compassionate leadership.

Leadership | Fellowship | Service | Sustainable Impact
It was a privilege to attend the Rotary International Convention held in Taipei, Taiwan, from 13–17 June. Returning after the memorable 2013 Convention, I witnessed one of Rotary's largest global gatherings with more than 32,000 Rotarians representing over 140 countries.
Taiwan's hospitality, commitment to Rotary and unwavering support for humanitarian service reflected the very essence of Rotary fellowship and international understanding.
"Rotary is more than a service organisation. It is a transformative experience. Together, let us Create Lasting Impact."
The Convention featured inspiring keynote speakers, remarkable service stories and the magnificent House of Friendship where hundreds of Rotary initiatives from around the world were showcased.
The Convention concluded with renewed optimism, reinforcing Rotary's commitment towards peace, service, education, environmental sustainability and the eradication of polio.
Rotary continues to unite people across cultures, inspiring hope through friendship, service and shared humanitarian values.

Before We Lead, We Learn
Leadership rarely begins with having all the answers. More often, it begins with the willingness to learn, the courage to envision something greater, and the understanding that meaningful change is never created alone.
It was with this spirit that the Club Leadership and Learning Seminar 2026–27 brought together the leaders of Rotaract District 3060 in Bharuch, at the threshold of a new Rotary year, with new responsibilities before them and a shared purpose binding them together.
Hosted by the Rotaract Club of Bharuch, CLLS was envisioned as more than an orientation to the year ahead. It became a space to question, collaborate, exchange perspectives and reflect upon the kind of leadership the coming year would demand.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp fittingly opened the gathering, a symbol of knowledge and wisdom, and perhaps, of the many ideas waiting to be ignited through the day.
"Before leadership translates into action, it must first find direction."
That direction began to take shape as DRRE Bhavya Samirkumar Shah shared her vision for 2026–27, setting the tone for a year anchored in purpose, innovation and service.
As clubs from across the District were subsequently recognised, the moment offered a compelling picture of District 3060 itself, many clubs, communities and individual journeys moving forward with a collective commitment to create meaningful change.
The conversations that followed invited participants to look beyond designations and towards the possibilities that leadership creates.
District Learning Facilitator IPDRR Rohit Ashish Ajmera placed continuous learning at the centre of that journey, while DRC 2026–27 PDRR Chintan Shah, through "Excelling the Power of Dream", turned attention towards the courage required to transform aspiration into action.
Through "Blueprint 2026: Creating Our Legacy," participants were challenged to look beyond the year they were about to inherit and envision the one they wished to leave behind.
Facilitated by IPDRR Rohit Ashish Ajmera, the activity transformed the idea of legacy from something abstract into something intentional, a reminder that a Rotary year is ultimately remembered by what its leaders choose to build through it.
The learning then moved into focused breakout sessions, where Presidents, Secretaries, club officers and members explored the practical foundations upon which that vision would rest.
Conversations around Club Reporting Excellence, District Events Planning, District By-Laws and Club Functioning: Do’s & Don’ts brought leadership from the realm of ideas into the realities of running stronger, more accountable clubs.
These sessions were facilitated by district leaders including DSG Sumit Singh, DOCR Het Shah, DOCE Rtr. Deepak Tiwari and DRC PDRR Chintan Shah.
Yet Rotaract leadership finds its fullest expression in service.
"Rotaract in Action: Exploring the Avenues of Service", facilitated by District Avenues Chair Rtr. Deven Jodhani, brought participants together once again, this time to think creatively about how different avenues of service could translate into meaningful impact within their communities.
Ideas became conversations, conversations became possibilities, and collaboration became the thread connecting them all.
The canvas widened further through "Seeds of Change – The Rotary Foundation." Led by IPDRR Rohit Ashish Ajmera, the session explored how an idea for service can be nurtured into sustainable change through the opportunities offered by The Rotary Foundation.
Alongside vision and service came another cornerstone of responsible leadership — accountability. DRRE Bhavya Samirkumar Shah presented the District Budget for 2026–27, reinforcing transparency as an integral part of the year ahead.
And amidst the many conversations of the day remained one deceptively simple question:
Guest speaker IPDRR Sasi Kumar J of RI District 3234, through "Purpose, Passion & Possibilities", invited Rotaractors to return to the reason behind their association with the movement.
Beyond meetings, projects and positions lies purpose; beyond responsibility lies passion; and where the two meet, possibilities begin to emerge.
Perhaps that was what CLLS ultimately offered, not a handbook containing every answer the coming year would require, but something far more valuable: the perspective with which to seek them.
By the time the seminar drew to a close, leadership had been explored as vision and responsibility, service and accountability, collaboration and legacy.
Participants left not merely with information for the positions they held, but with ideas to carry back to their clubs, conversations to continue and a clearer understanding of the impact they were capable of creating together.
For the leaders of 2026–27, the year had not quite begun.
But its blueprint had already taken shape.

"People think entrepreneurs are all about fame and money. I was never in for either. And will never be. This is a much bigger fight."
— Sharad Vivek Sagar
Innovation is the culture of life. Every sphere of human existence is shaped by innovation, and society progresses when people collectively develop solutions that improve the quality of life.
Social innovation represents the process of developing, implementing and scaling ideas that address human needs, empower communities and create sustainable social impact. It is never the privilege of one individual but the result of committed people working together towards meaningful change.
Peter Drucker defined an entrepreneur as someone who constantly searches for change, responds to it and exploits it as an opportunity. According to him, innovation is the essential instrument of entrepreneurship, making both inseparable from one another.
Entrepreneurs are true change-makers who create value, generate employment, solve real-world problems and inspire economic growth. Entrepreneurship combines creativity, innovation, calculated risk-taking and the passion to transform ideas into reality.
Economist Joseph Schumpeter described entrepreneurs as innovators who organise talent, mobilise resources, provide leadership and build organisations. One of the noblest forms of entrepreneurship is Social Entrepreneurship, where innovation is directed towards solving social, cultural and environmental challenges.
Social entrepreneurs identify problems that often remain ignored and create practical, sustainable solutions. Their objective is not merely financial success but creating lasting value for society.
Social Entrepreneurship combines innovation with responsibility, transforming compassion into action and creating lasting impact for society.
Widely recognised as the Father of the White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien transformed India's dairy sector through the cooperative movement. As the co-founder of AMUL and founder of NDDB, he demonstrated how innovation, commitment and service can empower millions of farmers while revolutionising an entire industry.
Founder of Sulabh International, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak pioneered revolutionary work in sanitation, hygiene, waste management and social reform. His humanitarian approach transformed sanitation across India while restoring dignity and improving the quality of life for millions.
Social Innovation is a powerful approach to solving community challenges through creativity, responsibility and collaboration. Social Entrepreneurship encourages individuals to create sustainable solutions in education, healthcare, child welfare, counselling, environmental protection and many other fields.
While challenges such as finance, skilled manpower, branding and public awareness continue to exist, the opportunities remain immense. By combining innovation with compassion, entrepreneurs can create careers, strengthen communities and contribute to nation building.
"Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship together have the power to transform lives, strengthen communities and build a stronger nation."

"AI is not here to replace human intelligence—it is here to amplify it."
We are living in one of the most exciting periods in history. Just as the Internet transformed the world over the past three decades, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now changing the way we live, work, communicate, learn, and serve society.
Every day we use AI—while searching on Google, navigating with Google Maps, shopping online, watching YouTube, or unlocking our smartphones. Yet many people still ask:
To answer these questions, Rotary Club of Vadodara Heritage has launched "AI Made Simple for Rotarians", a practical learning series written in simple language with real-life examples, illustrations and activities so that every Rotarian can confidently understand AI regardless of technical background.
After completing all five lessons, participants will be invited to an interactive online workshop (September/October) to learn hands-on use of ChatGPT and other AI tools for personal productivity, business and Rotary service.
Learn Together. Serve Smarter.
